DAIWA Steez C66M-SV WEREWOLF【Power Plus】

A trump card for finesse worming that wins with flawless technique. Teaming up
with BLACKJACK, finesse is within reach in all directions.
There are 4 models of 22STEEZ announced this season. First, I would like to explain about WEREWOLF Power Plus, an ambitious work by Mr.STEEZ, Toshinari Namiki. It was a test fishing trip to the Oku-Kanagawa reservoir in early spring, where he was fishing with fish that were still too early for spring awakening. Namiki declared,
"I have tried hooking power with all kinds of lures, but I no longer have any worries."
What Namiki was looking for in the new WEREWOLF was exactly its potential.
A professional who completes the job without compromise in all aspects. Usually, development takes longer than anyone else, sometimes even years. However, Namiki acknowledged that the day, when it was still in the early stages of development, was the final test, and nodded deeply. It is proof that there is no doubt about its perfection.
For 13 years now, he has been using the 08WEREWOLF in early spring and late autumn fishing trips. Since the release of the 15 BLACK JACK, both have been lined up on the boat deck as first-string rods. Since last season, the 21 BLACK JACK has taken the place of the 15 model, but in any case, for Namiki,
it is a trump card for bait rods that are "more finesse-oriented and technical." These models are widely used for down shots, Neko rigs, free rigs, no sinkers, etc. It is
only natural that he has ambitions that will come to him after using them for a long time. It goes without saying that professional anglers are creatures that always aim for higher heights.
"It is true that I felt a difference in power between the two items. The BLACK JACK is stiff, and the WEREWOLF is more
bait finesse-oriented. I had a desire to fill that gap." Both models fully demonstrate the excellent operability that comes from their ultra-high sensitivity and ultra-lightweight. Both are based on SVF COMPILE-X, a carbon technology that is only allowed to be used in STEEZ, the highest-end DAIWA bass rod, and the difference in power has been used to deal with the weight difference of finesse rigs.
The difference between the 15BLACKJACK and the 08WEREWOLF is clear when you look at the graph below. The former has an overwhelmingly hard butt, while the latter leaves something to be desired. To put it simply, for the main 3.5-7g rigs, the former is closer to 7g and the latter is closer to 3.5g, depending on the volume and resistance of the worm. It is true that neither rod was able to fully control the 5g middle weight.
"I have no objection to the delicate operability. However, if the 08WEREWOLF had a little more power, it would be able to handle a wider range of rigs and lures,"
Namiki said. It was inevitable that he asked for a review of the taper balance.

The direct feeling is intact, and the perfect offensive and defensive skill is realized
. The second generation of STEEZ, which Namiki worked on last season, has five models. The common theme for all of them was "versatility." Although the WEREWOLF was originally a rod with high versatility for finesse, Namiki understood that by expanding its range even further, it could be used as an immediate asset in the field.
"It's hard to get stuck because of the tension, and even if it does get stuck, it's easy to remove. There's no objection to the tip part."
The multi-taper is still alive and well, with tip action at low loads and parabolic bends at high loads such as casting, hooking, and fighting. While maintaining the same sensitivity as before, which follows the direct operability of the rig, we decided to review the taper balance from the belly to the butt. Yes, this is to improve the ability to handle 5g rigs with strong resistance worms and 7g rigs, which felt overpowered.
"In order to expand the versatility, it was urgent to strengthen the butt power."
By supplementing the power of the butt, we have achieved ultra-high sensitivity finesse worming that fills the gap between BLACKJACK and the down shot, while maintaining the operability of bait finesse rigs such as Snugless Neko and Smolaba. We succeeded in overcoming the situation where we were struggling to attack.
There is no problem with the castability of lightweight lures. The 66 length is tightened with X45 full shield, which enables high-speed casting with a compact swing and hits pin spots more accurately. The multi-taper design avoids the risk of line breaks, while the increased power of the butt dramatically improves hooking response.
"The 21 BLACK JACK has a more delicate image. You can see that the range of defense is clearly wider than the previous model."
The finished product is designed to be suitable not only for worming, but also for metal vibes and jigging spoons that require tricky operability and instant bite, as well as jerk baits and spinner baits. To put it in perspective, it is like the ultra-sensitive SVF COMPILE-X version of "TYPE-1.5". The butt end is finished with an EVA round, which reduces interference from the belly even with instant hooking, boosting attacking power.
The 22WEREWOLF Power Plus allows for everything from delicate manipulation to bold attacks. You'll be able to get the perfect balance of offense, defense and skill that you've never been able to get before.
